Organic Polenta (Gluten-Free) by Hatton Hill Organic. Made from premium-grade corn organically grown, harvested, dried and milled in Italy. Packed in the UK.

One of the many Italian staple foods that have conquered the world, polenta is coarsely ground cornmeal typically used as a flavoursome base or an accompaniment for a wide range of other foods. Its name derives from Latin, which gives you some idea of its long history. Corn – naturally gluten-free, and from which it is milled – is believed to have been the most important food crop throughout the ancient Americas.

PURE, PREMIUM PRODUCT: Hatton Hill Organic’s polenta is grown in the Italian sunshine, where it is dried and milled to seal in its fresh, summery flavour. USES: Polenta is a superb substitute for potatoes or pasta, and is typically simmered like porridge to cook – often in broth or herby stock preparations to impart additional flavour. From there on out, it’s up to you how to use this versatile ingredient! At its simplest, it forms a creamy, tasty and nutritious base for meat, fish, poultry and vegetable dishes such as ragouts and stews, but it can also be left to cool and dry, enabling it to be sliced like bread and – if you want to give it a nice finishing touch – baked, grilled, or pan-fried. And it doesn’t stop there! Polenta can be used as flour in baking, and like breadcrumbs to coat chicken or fish. Or how about in place of porridge or cereal for a smooth and satisfying breakfast, topped with yoghurt or fruit?

SUNSHINE IN A BAG: Bringing a touch of the sunny Mediterranean to your table, polenta is a good source of fibre and protein that contains vitamins A, B3, B6, B9, E, and K. It also packs in minerals including essential amino acids, magnesium, and phosphorus.
